Police in search of suspects in Barto/Bechtelsville area

Troop L, Reading Barracks, of the Pennsylvania State Police, is in search of any information regarding multiplethefts from motor vehicles occurring in the Bechtelsville and Barto areas of Berks County throughout the months of June and July recently.

A white male suspect in late teens to early 20’s is thought to approach residential areas in a black Chevrolet Lumina, park in an isolated area, and canvas a neighborhood on foot during hours of darkness in search for unlocked automobiles.

Items being stolen are typically car navigation systems (GPS), cash, coins, jewelry, credit cards, etc.

Any information regarding these crimes can be provided directly to the PSP Troop L Reading barracks by calling 610-378-4011— pressing option # 3—and asking to speak to a Criminal Investigator regarding this news release.

All residents are reminded to remove valuables from your automobile and to close windows and lock doors. It is also recommended that any items of value within a vehicle (such as removable GPS systems, etc) have their serial numbers recorded by owner, or otherwise be engraved with distinguishable owner-applied marking.
