A Hamburg teenager has been missing for 11 days and borough police are currently looking for the 16-year-old.

James Santiago, of North Fourth Street, was last seen on the night of July 6 while getting into a vehicle at the Hamburg Market. According to his mother, Betsy Santiago, she is not aware of what James was doing as her son left his home without permission that night.

“My son has never left home to run away,” said Betsy Santiago. “He has snuck out while we were sleeping but always came home before we awoke in the morning.”

A missing person report was filed with borough police on July 9 and a flyer was posted in Hamburg on July 13. The teen, who is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, and has brown eyes and hair, was last seen wearing a red shirt, black-red-white basketball shorts, and black-red-white, high-top Jordan basketball sneakers.

“I just want him to know if he’s afraid to come home now, not to be,” said his mother.
