The STORM 16u softball team won the USSSA 16U Fastpitch World Series held in Salisbury, Maryland. The weeklong tournament consisted of 44 teams from nine states (CT, DE, IL, MD, NJ, NY, PA, OH, and VA).
The STORM team went undefeated with an overall record of 9-0. The tournament format was three pool games seeding into a double elimination bracket. After sweeping the three pool games, STORM won six straight bracket games defeating teams from Delaware, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
In the championship game the STORM defeated the Total Kaos team from Harrison, New York, 10 to 0. In 9 games the STORM scored 60 runs and allowed only seven, dominating the competition with strong offense, defense, and pitching.
The USSSA Fastpitch World Series Championship was the culmination of a highly successful season in which the STORM earned an overall record of 38 wins and 4 losses including 4 tournament championships and 2 runners-up.
STORM Fast Pitch Softball (STORM) is the only youth/women program of the Limeport Athletic Association (LAA), an organization with a dedication to the advancement of girls and women fast pitch softball. The STORM Fast Pitch Softball program is located at Lyons Ballfield in Lyons Station PA. STORM is an elite fast pitch softball tournament program which manages teams at the 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and women age groups. An 18U team will be added next season.
The STORM currently has players representing the Berks, Lehigh and Schuylkill County area from 16 schools (Blue Mountain, Berks Catholic, Boyertown, Brandywine, Daniel Boone, Emmaus, Fleetwood, Gateway Christian, Good Shepherd, Governor Mifflin, Kutztown, Oley, Schuylkill Valley, Tulpehocken, Wilson and Wyomissing). The program provides an opportunity for the best players in the area to play against the best competition in the region while preparing to play in high school and college.
