Through My Kitchen Window Holiday Hand-Me-Down Recipe Contest

When my family gathers to visit and feast on Thanksgiving and Christmas, Grandma’s baked corn is always on the menu. As each new generation steps into the kitchen, her recipe is handed down. The cherished recipe card is wrinkled, and splattered. But it’s part of my family’s tradition. We love Grandma’s baked corn because it’s delicious and nostalgic. The Holidays wouldn’t be the same without it.

Through My Kitchen Window wants to know what your favorite holiday hand-me-down recipe is, so we are having a recipe contest!

To enter:
Send us your favorite holiday recipe that was handed down through the generations. Include a legibly written or typed recipe and short note about why your recipe is special to you. Pictures are optional, but always beneficial.

Keep in mind that we cannot accept published recipes. For example, if your favorite recipe is from a Taste of Home cookbook, you must alter the ingredients and cooking instructions for it to be eligible. You probably already have your own special way of making it. Just make those changes in the recipe.

One entry per person.
Entry deadline is November 13, 2012.

Four finalists will be chosen, and their recipes published in this column on November 20, 2012, and also posted online to TriCountyRecord.com and the Tri County Record Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/TriCountyRecord. Each of our finalists will receive a $25 gift card.

Then it’s up to YOU the reader to choose the big winner. Let us know via email, Facebook, or mail which recipe you like best. Voting will close on December 4. The final winner will also win the cookbook “Holiday Baking: New and Traditional Recipes for Wintertime Holidays” by Sara Perry, and be announced in this column on December 11, 2012 along with a special write-up about their hand-me-down recipe.
