HARRISBURG – Lancaster Farmland Trust honored Sen. Mike Brubaker (R-36) with the 2012 Amos H. Funk Spirit of Cooperation award during the group’s annual dinner that was held the final week of October.

Along with the rest of the Lancaster delegation to the General Assembly, Brubaker was selected to receive the award based on his strong support for dedicated state funding for farmland preservation, as well as his efforts to reform the state’s farmland preservation program in light of future funding challenges.

“Our region has benefitted immensely from the farmland preservation program, and Lancaster Farmland Trust has been a strong partner in protecting our prime agricultural land,” said Brubaker, who is a former Chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee. “It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by some of the strongest advocates for the agriculture community.”

The honor is awarded annually to an individual, business or group that supports the Lancaster Farmland Trust’s mission of preserving productive farmland throughout the county.
