Fleetwood Girl Scout Courtney Birckbichler of Cadette Troop 11096 has earned her Girl Scout Silver Award.
Courtney coordinated the repair and expansion of the Preschool play area outside St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Fleetwood.
Courtney led her team of volunteers to remove sod in a 20 feet by 20 feet area, install three tons of new rubber mulch to the new section of the play area, repair some existing tripping hazards, build a new piece of playground equipment and clean the vinyl fence surrounding the play area.
By expanding the playground area and fixing various tripping hazards, the preschool playground is now a safer place for the children to spend their outdoor fun.
The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Cadette Girl Scout can earn.
Courtney put in more than 56 hours of her own time to get this project accomplished, and her volunteers totaled over 200 hours of volunteer time.
The preschoolers are very grateful for their newly renovated playground area.
