The 3rd Annual Chester County Blues Barbeque will take place on Saturday, June 9, 2012, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Wyndsor Farms Equestrian Center, 2550 Ridge Road, which is located approximately 3 miles west of Elverson, PA. The event is co-sponsored by the Coventry Lions Club and Thorncroft Equestrian Center.

Adam Cathers, a representative of the Coventry Lions Club, said that this year’s event will feature great music and food in a family friendly outdoor setting.

Three top tier bands will perform, including Gary Allegretto, traveling from Los Angeles, who has been referred to by Blues Revue magazine as “one of the best harp players you’ll hear”. Also playing is Midnight Shift, a Pennsylvania-based bend which plays an infectious blend of roots music. The Roger Girke Band will round out the performances with its blend of traditional and contemporary blues.

“We invite the public to come out and enjoy the music,” said Cathers. “You can relax on the grass, eat barbeque, or playing Frisbee with your friends. The last two years have had over 600 people attending. If it rains, the event will be held inside the riding arena so don’t worry about missing the music.”

RELATED ASSETS

Tickets to the event are $20 at the door, $15 in advance, and kids under 12 are welcome free of charge. For advanced tickets and more information go to www.chestercountyblues.com. Those who purchase tickets to the event so be supporting the event’s two local non-profit sponsors, the Coventry Lions Club and Thorncroft Equestrian Center.

The Coventry Lions Club has raised more than $20,000 through support of this event. These funds go to volunteer programs such as KidSight, which offers free vision screening to children under 6 years old in Chester and Berks Counties, as well as providing hundreds of holiday meals for families struggling in this economy, and also educational scholarships.

Thorncroft‘s mission is to help build the physical, emotional and mental well-being of all individuals, particularly those with special needs, through establishing an atmosphere of cooperation, respect and love in an equestrian environment.

Through public support of events such as the Blues BBQ, these organizations are able to continue these and other important programs.
