The Town Tour and Village Walk through St. Peters Village on June 28 was a great success, according to members of the Warwick Township Historical Commission. Over 400 visitors, many from outside the area, were treated to guided tours of one of Chester County’s historical treasures. Shop owners with an antique flare are taking the opportunity to restore a shop and offer an attractive service in keeping with the historic theme.
St. Peters Village is on the National Registry of Historic Places. The village is in an area known for an abundance of iron ore and black granite mining. It became a tourist attraction in the 1880’s when the railroads were built out to the area. Now the homes of miners and quarry workers are being renovated as shops.
Carl Snyder, Chairman of the Historical Commission, and Linda Walters, Vice Chair, have been lauded for doing a fantastic job. The Twin Valley and Ridge Fire Company Fire Police helped to provide directions to detour traffic. Chairman Charles Jacob noted that they performed the task quite well.
