Honey Brook Twp, PA—The Tel Hai community’s Visiting Artist Series invites you to enjoy a presentation on Thursday, September 20 at 1 o’clock in the Garrett Community Center led by cottage resident, Ursula Bisch. Mrs. Bisch has worked in clay for the past 40 years and continues to marvel at the medium’s versatility.

When a resident of New Jersey, Ursula found herself abundantly supplied with the clay she needed for her artistic projects. Initially she dug the clay herself and used that in her first attempts. Soon she switched to store-bought clay which was free of “foreign objects” and could be used immediately.

Mrs. Bisch noted, “Creating something with clay teaches you to have patience…which is a good thing to have in our hectic world.”

A later move to New Bern, NC permitted her to continue enjoying her hobby. In fact, she found a lucrative outlet for her creations in local gift shops. Making the move to Tel Hai in 2010, Ursula left her kiln and all her “equipment” behind deciding to “retire” from working in clay. However, one of the first signs that caught her eye when arriving was “Ceramics.” She soon discovered a state of the art professional-sized kiln was available on campus. Ursula was hooked again!
