The Historic Poole Forge in Caernarvon Township (Lancaster Co.) is sponsoring a reader’s contest. They invite you to share in a chance to win their book “Hearth and Heritage Along the Conestoga”, a collection of traditions, country recipes and local stories (written with the collaboration of the volunteers of Historic Poole Forge of Churchtown and the Ladies Auxiliary of Caernarvon Fire Company). The book, which is available for purchase at Poole Forge, is full of local information such as ‘Feeding the Masses’ local recipes for large crowds. Snapshots and Snippets from along the Conestoga, as well as canning and freezing tips, and the churches of Churchtown, will also delight. There are lots of Amish and local recipes too. Remember, Mom said, “a pinch of this, a handful of that.”
