Pine Grove Church, Bowmansville will sponsor a performance by the King’s Heralds, which is known as America’s oldest continuous gospel quartet. The public is welcome to attend this inspirational concert, which will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 6:00 p.m. at the Pine Grove Church on Route 625 in Bowmansville.
The King’s Heralds, founded in 1927, have drawn upon the vocal skills of 21 different combinations of singers over the years. Thirty men have been part of this quartet since its initiation by students at Southwestern Union College in Texas. The group has shared its gospel music across the United States, throughout Latin America, and in the South Pacific, Asia, and Africa. The group has recorded more than 100 albums in 30 different languages. The group has been regular guests on “Praise the Lord” and the “It Is Written” telecast. Group members also share their musical talents with others through hospital and prison ministries.
Current members include Don Scroggs, first tenor; Joel Borg, second tenor; Russell Hospedales, baritone; and Jeff Pearles, bass. The program will include traditional and Southern gospel renditions as well as spirituals presented in a variety of styles, including the group’s trademark a cappella performance. A freewill offering will be received during the program for the ministry of the King’s heralds. Pine Grove Church welcomes their neighbors to attend this sacred concert.
