As part of the Berks County Best Kept Secrets Tour, one local business owner decided to give folks something to think about as the holiday season approaches: what they are thankful for.

The first 2000 people that purchased tickets to the tour received a free goody bag containing promotional items and gifts from the businesses. Margie Kraft, owner of A Splash of Red, decided to place a blank card in each bag and asked for inidivuals to write what they’re thankful for in 150 words or less. Once the cards are returned, a $100 gift card to A Splash of Red will be awarded to the winner.

The tour ran from Nov. 2 to Nov. 17. As of Monday, Nov. 19, many of the cards had already been returned to the shop.

“Some were blank, some had poetry or drawlings; many were quite touching,” said Kraft.

According to Kraft, one response simply stated ‘Thank you for making me do this.’

Kraft now has stacks of cards to sort through, taking the time each day to read the thankful thoughts and comments of her community members.
