Chief Keith Romig of the Twin Valley Fire Department (TVFD) has confirmed that Santa Claus will be making his annual rounds with the Twin Valley firefighters on Sunday, December 23, with the start time of his visit to the main streets and populated areas of Morgantown, Elverson, and other neighboring locales which the TVFD services now moved up to 1 p.m.

“Every other year Santa has left the Firehouse at 5 p.m.,” Romig said, “but last year we had so many places to visit that we did not finish until 11 p.m.”

Romig said that after internal discussions over how best to remedy the late evening visits, the fire company came to the decision that starting the trip earlier in the day made the most sense.

“We had considered hosting an open house with Santa at the station,” said Romig, “but since there was the possibility that more visitors would turn out than we have parking spaces for we decided to stay with having Santa go out on our truck at 1 p.m.”.

The expectations are that Santa’s visit through the community will take five hours to complete.

While Santa will not have elves or reindeer with him as he makes his rounds, he will be ably assisted by half a dozen members of the TVFD.

As has been the case for nearly two decades, parents can have Santa hand-deliver a gift for their child by dropping that gift off at the fire station before December 23.

“Parents can arrange a time to drop off a gift which Santa will hand deliver to their child and greet them by name. It is really neat.”

Those interested in having Santa deliver a gift to their child should call the TVFD at 610-286-TVFD (8833) to attain details.

The firefighters will have gifts of their own to give out too, offering candy canes to the children who come out to greet Santa.
