On Thursday February 7, 2013, the residents of Cedarwood Healthcare Center at Frederick Living, held a Valentine’s Day Fundraiser for the Montgomery County S.P.C.A.

Valentines Day

Over $300 was raised for this local organization. As staff began planning in December, residents started thinking about ways to give back to the local community, with several residents sharing the importance of helping animals that do not have a home.

Valentines Day

Over the next month, residents worked with staff to create homemade Valentine theme cards, bookmarks, cookie jars and art work.

Baked goods including muffins, brownies and cookies were made by the residents in the days prior to the sale with staff also providing support with additional homemade baked goods.

RELATED ASSETS

It was an amazing opportunity for residents to work together to support the local community and their dedication and commitment to the success of the sale was evident throughout the whole planning process and the day of the event.

“I think it was wonderful,” said one resident. I used to have a pet shop and I think we need to give to causes like this one.”

Another resident echoed her feelings that it was a special day, “I think it went beautifully! We do this because we care.”
