A local newly wed couple shared some advice for preparing for that big day.
Dan and Danielle (McBride) Mitchell of Limerick were married at Warrington Country Club in Bucks County on Oct. 13, 2012.
“It was a lot of fun, a lot of stress and worth every minute,” said Dan.
Dan, a native of Douglassville and a graduate of Daniel Boone High School, is an electrical engineer for Lutron Electronics Inc. in Coopersburg. Danielle, a graduate of Upper Moreland High School in Willow Grove, is a nurse at Reading Hospital.
Danielle said their big day was “amazing.”
“It was magical for me. It was such a great feeling to be surrounded by friends and family,” she said.
Her favorite part of getting married was knowing that she was going to spend the rest of her life with her best friend.
“Walking down the aisle seeing his face with me in my dress was great. He looked like he was in awe. He looked so handsome in his tux. It was like no one else was there, just the two of us having a private moment.”
Danielle became a little choked up while answering the questions.
“He’s so amazing.”
Some of the challenges of planning the wedding was the budget.
“Trying to find the best prices for flowers and photographers, dresses, shoes and venues,” said Danielle. “We ended getting an awesome package from The Warrington Country Club.Everyone there was so helpful. The food was absolutely amazing.”
She said that the country club staff accommodated her dietary needs and guided them through every step of the way.
Another challenge of planning the event was family related.
“There is always some stress when getting families together, too,” said Danielle.
When asked if there was anything she would do differently, Danielle said maybe she would try not to stress out as much.
“But I think stress is normal when planning a wedding.”
The groom said, “My take on it is, it is your day, do what you want.”
Her advice to other couples is to take time to stop and look around because the day goes so fast.
“You plan for so long and then the next thing you know the DJ is playing the last song. It was such a great day. Make sure you enjoy it and try not to stress.”
Danielle also recommendedshopping around for prices, and to not pay for silly things like chair covers because no one will remember the next day if their chair was covered or not.
“I also think that the bride and groom need to remember their day is about them,” said Danielle. “Not anyone else... It’s about their love.”
