A 12-year-old male student at Tulpehocken Area Junior/Senior High School on New Schaefferstown Road in Jefferson Township was detained by PSP Reading Troopers after writing on a bathroom wall that he had brought a gun to school.

Both the junior and senior high schools were put on lockdown, and school surveillance tapes showed the accused student walking into the bathroom. The accused student later confessed writing the message, and he had no weapon on his person.

The schools were taken off of lockdown once the threat was deemed non-credible.

After being taken into custody by troopers from PSP Reading, the student was later released to the custody of his parents.
