Fleetwood Area School Report: FASD presents spring musicals

As we approach spring, the Fleetwood Area School District is proud to present three musicals for your enjoyment.
The first is The Wizard of Oz which will be performed by the students of Willow Creek Elementary School on Tuesday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m. The 47 performers in grades K-4 have been rehearsing twice a week since January. Co-directors Sandy Hawkins and Heidi Carletti, with the help of teachers Candi Barwinski, Sara Bush, Lauren Stahl, Jaime Wagner, Theresa Kelly and Sherry Kendra, have volunteered their time to bring the magic of theatre, music, and performing alive for the students. Over the past three years, the show has been very successful in helping to bring the students together in their new school. The Wizard of Oz will be held in the LGI room at Willow Creek Elementary. Admission is free (doors open at 6 p.m.). Donations will be accepted after the show to fund future performances at Willow Creek.
The middle school will present Annie Jr. on March 22 and 23. There are about 50 seventh and eighth grade students involved with the drama club’s performance this year. Students are working hard on their singing and dancing skills for the show. They particularly enjoy performing “Hard Knock Life” and give the choreography a modern twist that audiences will enjoy. Almost the entire cast is in the musical number “NYC”. This number includes dancing in the aisles which will be great fun for the audience! The drama club also went on a field trip last month to see Mary Poppins on Broadway. This was the first Broadway show for most of the students.
