Longswamp Cub Scout Pack 575 Wolves (2nd Graders), as well as the combined Sunday School classes at St. Paul’s UCC in Kutztown, recently completed a service project for our military forces. Both groups participated in the Pocket Flag Project - a nationwide project with the purpose of providing a pocket-sized American flag to all deploying military personnel. Both groups learned how to show respect for the flag, how to properly fold the flag, and then folded flags and wrote personalized notes to the soldiers who will receive them. These flags are carried in soldiers’ pockets; members of the military spoke to both groups about the significance of these flags to them when they deployed overseas.
